2009 NBA Playoffs – Who Owns the Tiebreakers?
Thanks to the NBA.com Playoff Picture page, I was able to determine who owns the tiebreakers for this thrilling NBA playoff race.
- Philadelphia owns tiebreaker over Chicago
- Houston owns tiebreaker over Denver, Portland & San Antonio
- Denver owns tiebreaker over San Antonio & Portland
- Portland owns tiebreaker over San Antonio
- Utah owns tiebreaker over New Orleans & Dallas
- New Orleans owns tiebreaker over Dallas
Just goes to show that the regular season *does* matter. Ain’t that right, Shaq?

ist tiebreaker: head-to-head (Miami wins 3-1).
That ends the discussion. However, here are the remaining tiebreakers.
2nd: division record. Tied at 9-7.
3rd: conference record. Miami wins again.
4th: record against playoff-teams in conference. Too lazy to figure that one out at the moment.
5th: record against playoff-teams in other conference. Again, too lazy.
6th: point differential. Miami wins, unless something crazy happens in the last game for each team.
looks like Miami does; they won the season series 3-1. They have the same division record (9-7), but Miami They also have a better conference record, which I think is the 2nd tiebreaker.
